Here at Citizen Autistic, May means movies (like every month I here you cry!), and with that in mind, I am pleased to announce the first in a two film pairing running May to June, the mind-bending, perception altering A GLITCH IN THE MATRIX (2021) at 18:25 on Monday, 22 May at the BFI Southbank (NFT3)!
**INFO AND TICKETS PAGE LINK (Shortened): https://bit.ly/A_Glitch_In_The_Matrix **The entry fee is £3,00 payable in advance online, by phone (020 7928 3232) or by emailing the Box Office: box.office@bfi.org.uk
Titled ‘Ghosts In The Machine’, the yawning Grand Canyon chasms between perception versus reality, the complex, fluid nature of gender and identity and the Siren-like seductiveness of modern technology are among the themes hoping to be explored with this two film mini series.
This series has been curated in direct partnership between Citizen Autistic: The London Autism Film Club and those good folk at The British Film Institute. Bookings for the second screening in June are yet to be released – please watch this space (and this group) for more details!
A GLITCH IN THE MATRIX: Simulation theory, or the concept that reality is in fact an artificial simulation, is central to Rodney Ascher’s head-spinning foray into virtual worlds. Utilising a blend of archive footage and interviews with internet theorists, Glitch sends viewers tumbling down the rabbit hole in exploring the outermost frontiers of human perception.
POST FILM INFORMAL CHAT: Opportunity post-film to share thoughts and opinions on the film – a facilitated discussion. This is built into the overall event schedule and is open to anyone who has booked. As such, please do expect non-Citizen Autistic club members to be in attendance.
Location: The Blue Room – (First Floor): https://www.tagvenue.com/rooms/london/17635/bfi-southbank/blue-room
Timings: Please try to arrive by around 6:10 or 6:15. The film itself begins at 6:25 and is 108 minutes, ending by around 8:15pm.

As ever, feel free to bring along friends/facilitators and do remember to book in advance to avoid disappointment and also RSVP on the event page so I can keep a beady eye on numbers.
