Following the heartfelt documentary CANNON ARM, about a close-knit clique of classic arcade gamers hosted by yours truly, Citizen Autistic is back for another ritual gathering of fellow worshippers of the silver screen.

Next in line on the last Monday of the month is the vibrant, strikingly surreal DEEP END (1970) at the BFI Southbank (NFT3) plus intro and discussion, at 18:00 on Monday, 24 April!

Synopsis: Directed by veteran European film-maker Jerzy Skolimowski, director of the recently released Eo, about the plight of poor, downtrodden donkey, Deep End centres around teenage swimming pool attendant Mike (Moulder-Brown) as he finds himself drawn inexorably closer to his more worldly-wise colleague Susan (Jane Asher).

Following hot on the heels of other such films from the period as Blow Up and Repulsion in its offering up of an ‘outsiders’ view 60s Britain, while the film itself is set in London (Fulham, Stratford, and other locations), much of it was actually filmed in West Germany.
