Hi, all you lovey neurodiverse Londoners,
Mark this date in your diary, because Sunday, 27 October is the date the next edition of the London Autism Film Club comes to town! π₯π
Daylight Saving Time – As this date is also when the clocks go back one hour (at 02:00), this film club will take place at 12:30 – 14:00 pm, with the times being those after the reset. So it will feel like 13:30 right?!

Theme: Children With Autism
Effectively functioning as a book club but for film, this month’s homework assignment is FLY AWAY, the tender story of Jeanne (Beth Broderick, Sabrina the Teenage Witch) and her autistic teenage daughter, Mandy (Ashley Rickards, One Tree Hill). Directed by Emmy Award winner Janet Grillo (Autism: The Musical).
FLY AWAY (75 mins) is freely available to watch on YouTube here:

In addition, here are links to two videos, both about and featuring the use of Virtual Reality better understand children with autism:

CAN VIRTUAL REALITY HELP KIDS (7mins) – https://www.freethink.com/shows/superhuman/season-3/using-virtual-reality-to-help-kids-with-autism
The discussion will take place in the downstairs Cinema space of Deptford Cinema (39 Deptford Broadway).
As always, relating to anxiety and sensory concerns will be considered, and people attending do not have to have a formal diagnosis.
Again, if you would like to take a friend, partner or facilitator as +1 thatβs perfectly A okay, so long as they respect and support the group’s aims.
So, come on down if you can, free tea, coffee, cake and biscuits provided along with a selection of board games!
Cheers,
